Meet somewhere public
Cafés, chess clubs, libraries, and public parks are the norm. If a host suggests something private, it's fair to ask why or skip it.

Look for FIDE-verified profiles
A FIDE badge means the player has been matched to their entry in the international federation's database — a real-world ID. Linked Lichess or Chess.com accounts only confirm a username, not an identity.

Trust your gut, report anything off
You can leave any meetup at any time. Use the ⋯ menu on any profile or message to report or block — we review every report within 24 hours.
